KARACHI: Defence analyst and former caretaker Sindh minister for home and prisons, Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz, has described the events of “Marka-e-Haq” and Operation “Bunyan-un-Marsoos” as a defining moment for Pakistan. He claimed that the episode exposed what he termed India’s regional policies before the international community.
Military Response Highlighted
Speaking to APP on Sunday, Brigadier Nawaz stated that Pakistan’s armed forces responded effectively during the confrontation, demonstrating the country’s defence capabilities through a coordinated and decisive military response. Referring to reports of aerial and drone engagements, he claimed that Pakistan’s armed forces inflicted significant losses on the opposing side, including the downing of fighter aircraft and dozens of drones during the conflict.
Allegations Against India
He further alleged that the developments exposed India’s “policy of patronising terrorism” in Pakistan and other parts of the region, while also drawing greater international attention to regional security concerns. Brigadier Nawaz said the country demonstrated national unity under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, adding that the armed forces and the public stood together during the period of heightened tensions.
Countering Propaganda
He maintained that Pakistan effectively countered what he described as “Indian media propaganda” and acted with precision in self-defence by targeting alleged missile and drone launch sites. The former caretaker minister also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, praising their preparedness, operational response, and coordination during the confrontation.
Diplomatic Dimension
Highlighting the diplomatic dimension, Brigadier Nawaz said Pakistan continues to play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue and engagement at the international level, which, according to him, reflects growing global confidence in the country’s leadership and diplomatic approach. He said the recent developments strengthened Pakistan’s position internationally and contributed to greater engagement with the country on regional and security-related matters.
Warning Against Escalation
Warning against any future escalation, Brigadier Nawaz said Pakistan possesses the capability to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that any aggression would receive a firm response. He concluded by saying that Pakistan’s international image has improved in recent years and that increasing diplomatic interaction with various countries reflects confidence in Pakistan as a stable and responsible state.
