Islamabad: The School of Law at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), marked World Refugee Day by hosting a signing ceremony for a Cooperation Framework Agreement. This agreement aims to strengthen academic collaboration in the areas of refugee law, migration, statelessness, and forced displacement.

The event was attended by Mr. Asmat Ullah Shah, Chief Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, Government of Pakistan; His Excellency Mr. Georg Steiner, Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan; Mr. Oscar Manuel, Deputy Representative and Officer-in-Charge, UNHCR Pakistan; and Professor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University. Faculty members, researchers, students, and representatives of partner institutions were also present.
Agreement Details
The Cooperation Framework Agreement establishes a structured platform for collaboration between UNHCR and QAU. It focuses on academic research, curriculum development, training programs, advocacy initiatives, and the coordination of the Pakistan Academic Consortium on Refugee Law and Migration (PACRAM). The School of Law will serve as the coordinating institution and secretariat for PACRAM.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Oscar Manuel and Professor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, solidifying the commitment to advancing refugee law and migration studies in Pakistan.
