Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the terrorist and separatist attacks that struck Mali's capital, Bamako, and other cities, targeting both military and civilian areas. In an official statement, the Saudi foreign ministry extended its condolences to the affected families and reiterated the Kingdom's solidarity with the government of Mali.
OIC Expresses Concern
Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), also condemned the operations in a separate statement. He expressed deep concern that these attacks pose a serious threat to civilian lives and undermine peace and stability in the region.
Coordinated Attacks by Militant Groups
An Al-Qaeda-linked militant group announced on Saturday that it had joined forces with rebels to launch one of the most complex offensives in years in the West African nation. The groups carried out surprise dawn attacks around Bamako and other areas, while Tuareg rebels claimed they had seized the northern city of Kidal.
The coordinated assault represents a significant escalation in the conflict, with multiple fronts opened simultaneously. The attacks targeted military bases and civilian infrastructure, causing casualties and widespread fear among the population.
The international community has been urged to take immediate action to prevent further loss of life and to support Mali's government in its efforts to restore order. The OIC has called for a unified response to combat terrorism and separatism in the region.
