King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia have extended their heartfelt condolences to the Philippines following a devastating earthquake that claimed at least 45 lives. The earthquake, which struck on Monday, is considered one of the most powerful to hit the Philippines in the last 50 years.

Impact of the Earthquake

The quake left at least 630 people injured and caused widespread destruction. More than 3,100 houses were damaged, along with 29 roads, 11 bridges, and over 100 government buildings. Officials reported that over 25,000 people remain displaced, with many seeking refuge in 45 government-run emergency shelters. Many survivors are still too traumatized to return to their homes.

Condolences from Saudi Leadership

In a cable addressed to President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., King Salman expressed his deepest sympathies to the president, the families of the deceased, and the entire Filipino nation. The king stated, “We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and that you may be spared any further harm.” Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent a similar message of condolence.
