Meeting Highlights Critical Challenges
Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, held a detailed meeting on Tuesday with former federal minister, ex-Attorney General, and senior politician Syed Iftikhar Hussain Gillani. The two leaders discussed the prevailing political, economic, and security situation in Pakistan, with a particular focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the meeting covered a wide range of issues confronting the country.
Agreement on Critical Period
Both leaders agreed that Pakistan is passing through a critical period marked by economic difficulties, political instability, and a deteriorating law and order situation. They emphasized that these issues require responsible leadership, national unity, democratic dialogue, and people-centric policies to steer the country towards stability and progress. The discussion also highlighted the need for collective efforts to address the multifaceted crises.
Focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received particular attention, with both leaders expressing serious concern over the worsening security environment, economic challenges, unemployment, and lack of development in the province. They stressed the need for restoring durable peace, strengthening democratic institutions, promoting good governance, and ensuring equitable development for all regions, especially the merged tribal districts and other neglected areas of KP. The leaders called for targeted policies to uplift these regions and integrate them into the mainstream development framework.
Invitation to Join QWP
During the meeting, Aftab Sherpao invited Iftikhar Hussain Gillani to join the Qaumi Watan Party. Sherpao emphasized that their combined efforts could work for the welfare of the people of Pakistan, particularly the Pakhtuns, and contribute towards building a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic Pakistan. Gillani's vast experience in federal and legal matters is expected to strengthen the party's outreach and policy formulation.
