Youm-e-Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, was observed peacefully across district Vehari with deep religious devotion and exemplary security arrangements. The district administration, police, and all allied departments ensured foolproof security and uninterrupted civic facilities for mourners.
Security Deployment and Monitoring
More than 1,900 police personnel were deployed to secure 54 processions and 20 majalis. The security apparatus included CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, vigilance teams, and plain-clothes officials. Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya remained in the field throughout the day, inspecting the District Control Room, procession routes, and sensitive locations while reviewing security and administrative arrangements. DPO Vehari Tasawur Iqbal also personally supervised security operations, inspecting police deployment, monitoring the Safe City Control Room, and directing officers to remain vigilant.
Coordinated Efforts by Officials
The arrangements were further strengthened through the coordinated efforts of MPA Mian Saqib Khursheed, Assistant Commissioner Vehari Anam Akram, ADCG Rana Ghulam Murtaza, DSP Jamshed Akram, Tehsil Head of Suthra Punjab Rana Khalil Ahmed, and other departments. Rescue 1122, the Health Department, Punjab Food Authority, Suthra Punjab teams, WASA, MEPCO, and PTCL remained fully operational, providing ambulances, mobile clinics, drinking water, sabeels, sanitation services, and other public facilities despite the intense summer heat.
Appreciation for Suthra Punjab Teams
Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya especially appreciated the dedicated services of the Suthra Punjab teams for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring a hygienic environment throughout the Ashura processions and gatherings.
Post-Ashura Tributes
Following the peaceful conclusion of Ashura, political, religious, social, business, and journalist communities, along with civil society representatives, paid tribute to Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, DPO Tasawur Iqbal, the district administration, police, Rescue 1122, Suthra Punjab teams, municipal staff, volunteers, and procession organizers for their outstanding performance. They praised the excellent coordination, continuous field presence, and effective security measures, describing the arrangements as a model of efficient governance, public service, and communal harmony.
