ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday welcomed the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it would pave the way for a final agreement and lay the foundation for durable and comprehensive peace in the region.
In a statement posted on his official X timeline, President Zardari wrote: “I welcome the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, which will hopefully pave the way for a final agreement and lay the foundation for durable and comprehensive peace in the region.”
He highlighted that Pakistan was proud to have consistently supported dialogue and diplomacy throughout this challenging period. The president noted that the development was also an important step towards strengthening multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of disputes through engagement and mutual respect.
“May these efforts usher in greater peace, stability and prosperity for the region and the world,” he prayed.
