The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Counter Terrorism Wing in Karachi has conducted a major operation, uncovering an alleged network involved in issuing Pakistani passports to Afghan nationals using forged documents. According to FIA officials, the raid took place at a passport office near the Awami Centre on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi.
Details of the Operation
During the raid, two individuals were arrested, and records were seized and scrutinized by investigators. Officials reported that documents pertaining to more than 70 suspected foreign nationals were recovered. The suspects are believed to be linked to Afghanistan, though authorities have stated that further verification is ongoing.
Ongoing Investigations
The FIA has confirmed that investigations are continuing to determine the full extent of the network and all individuals involved in the alleged forgery operation. This development follows a previous incident in Qambar Shahdadkot district of Sindh, where two Afghan nationals were arrested for attempting to fraudulently obtain Pakistani passports.
Earlier, Director General (DG) Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi disclosed that two Afghan nationals had been arrested for infiltrating a local family and fraudulently acquiring Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs). Qazi asserted that the accused were facilitated by a man named Bahram Brohi, who allegedly aided the illegal process.
In a related development, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has placed relevant agencies on alert due to severe heatwave conditions in Sindh.
