Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Fazal Shakoor Khan, on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review ongoing development schemes in the centre region. The meeting covered the Annual Development Programme (ADP), clean drinking water supply projects, sanitation initiatives, and other key departmental matters.
Briefing on Project Progress
Chief Engineer Centre, Amjad Shamsheer, provided a comprehensive briefing on the overall progress of ongoing development schemes across various districts of the centre region. The minister was informed about the utilization of development funds, pace of project implementation, challenges being faced, and the future course of action.
Focus on Water Supply and Sanitation
During the briefing, it was reported that work on several water supply and sanitation schemes is progressing at a satisfactory pace, with special emphasis on ensuring the timely provision of safe drinking water to the public. The meeting also reviewed the timely completion of projects, construction quality, transparency, efficient utilization of funds, and overall implementation of development schemes.
Minister's Directives
Speaking on the occasion, Fazal Shakoor Khan stated that the provision of clean drinking water to the people is among the top priorities of the current Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, and the PHE Department is playing a vital role in achieving this objective. He emphasized that any negligence or unnecessary delay in the execution of development projects would not be tolerated.
Acceleration of Work and Quality Standards
The minister issued directives to concerned officers to further accelerate the pace of work on all ongoing schemes while ensuring the highest standards of quality so that the public could benefit from these projects at the earliest. He also stressed the importance of ensuring transparent and efficient utilization of development funds and directed that the progress of all projects be reviewed on a regular basis.
Priority for Maximum Public Benefit
Fazal Shakoor Khan further instructed the department to prioritize projects that would benefit the maximum number of people, ensuring that development initiatives are completed efficiently and in accordance with the government’s commitment to public welfare.
