Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana chaired a performance review meeting for the Iqbal Town and Saddar divisions at his office on Thursday. During the session, he expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements made during Ashura and issued directives for foolproof security measures for the upcoming Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA).
Zero Tolerance for Social Evils
Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against social evils, Mr. Kamyana ordered a citywide crackdown on drug trafficking and gambling dens. He issued a stern warning that the wrongful arrest of any citizen would not be tolerated, emphasizing that transparency and justice must remain paramount in criminal investigations. He also directed special attention to financial crime investigations to ensure speedy relief for victims.
Security Measures and Community Engagement
Reviewing localized security measures, the CCPO noted that the installation of security barriers in residential areas had yielded positive results. He directed police to engage with housing society management to promote the concept of gated communities. Additionally, he ordered the activation of the traditional Thikri Pehra (community night watch) system in rural areas to help prevent burglaries and thefts.
Crackdown on Illegal Activities
The CCPO reiterated his resolve to tighten the noose around active burglars and thieves, directing police to bring them to justice without delay. To strengthen the writ of the law, he ordered an indiscriminate crackdown on the display of illegal weapons, vehicles with tinted windows, and the ostentatious “Dallah culture.” He urged police officers to adopt modern and professional policing techniques to eliminate crime effectively.
