LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has vowed to ensure the maintenance of peace during Muharram, and enforce strict compliance with the approved timings and routes of majalis and processions. Chairing a meeting along with Commissioner Maryam Khan on Friday, he said matters concerning trouble points across the city will be resolved well in advance through consultation and mutual understanding. He directed to strengthen and streamline checking and security screening in coordination with organisers and volunteers of the events. Road repairs along procession routes, installation of streetlights, anti-dengue spray and sewerage-related concerns were also discussed.
Key Decisions for Peaceful Muharram
The meeting focused on ensuring a peaceful environment during the holy month. Commissioner Maryam Khan emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination. Both officials agreed that preemptive measures would be taken at all sensitive locations. The police chief instructed that volunteers and organizers must work closely with law enforcement to facilitate smooth conduct of religious gatherings.
Infrastructure and Health Measures
Road repairs along designated routes for processions were prioritized to avoid any inconvenience. Additionally, installation of adequate streetlights was ordered to ensure visibility and safety during night events. Anti-dengue spray campaigns will be intensified in areas where gatherings occur, and sewerage issues will be promptly addressed to prevent health hazards.
