A police constable in Mansehra has been dismissed from service following an internal inquiry that found him involved in a goat theft case in Abbottabad, police officials confirmed on Sunday.
Inquiry Initiated After Social Media Reports
According to a spokesperson for Mansehra Police, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Azhar Khan ordered an inquiry after reports circulating on social media drew attention to the case. The inquiry reportedly found grounds for disciplinary action against the constable, identified as Nawaz Muslim, who is also named in a First Information Report (FIR) registered in Abbottabad under theft-related provisions.
DPO Orders Dismissal
Following the inquiry, the DPO ordered his dismissal from service in accordance with departmental rules and disciplinary procedures. Commenting on the action, Muhammad Azhar Khan said the police force would not tolerate conduct that undermines public trust in the institution.
“There is no place in the police service for individuals whose actions bring disrepute to the uniform,” he said, adding that accountability would be ensured irrespective of rank or position. The DPO reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens and said strict action would continue against personnel found involved in unlawful activities.
Meanwhile, a heat wave alert has been issued for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with temperatures expected to reach up to 46°C in some areas. Officials also reviewed progress on the Patan Grid Station expansion project.
