Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued directives to enhance monitoring and emergency preparedness across the province to ensure swift drainage of rainwater and public safety during heavy rainfall. She instructed all relevant departments to remain on high alert in adverse weather conditions and ordered continuous monitoring of stormwater drains and canals. Teams from the irrigation department have been tasked with closely observing water flow to minimize the risk of urban flooding.
Eid-ul-Azha and Whitsun Celebrations
Celebrating Eid-ul-Azha and Whitsun, Maryam Nawaz also directed officials to ensure that manhole covers remain properly secured in both urban and rural areas. Precautionary measures at construction sites are to be enforced to prevent accidents. Authorities have been asked to pay special attention to structurally vulnerable buildings and maintain effective traffic management and public guidance throughout the province.
District Administration Instructions
District administrations have been instructed to issue warnings regarding potential roof collapses. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority and City Traffic Police teams have been directed to remain fully alert to ensure smooth traffic flow on major roads and highways. The chief minister emphasized that all field formations must remain operational and prepared to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
