PDMA Punjab Issues Rain and Hailstorm Alert June 11-13

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a weather alert forecasting rain, windstorms, and possible hailstorms across most districts of the province from June 11 to 13, 2024.

Affected Areas

According to the PDMA spokesperson, rainfall is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sialkot, and Narowal.

Precautionary Measures

PDMA Director General Umar Javed stated that commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been placed on alert on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The authority has advised citizens to remain indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning, and take precautions against strong winds and dust storms.

Advice for Farmers and Tourists

Farmers have been urged to make advance arrangements to protect crops, while tourists travelling to northern areas have been advised to exercise caution. In case of any emergency, citizens can contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
