Sargodha Court Awards Death Penalty in Domestic Murder

An Additional and Sessions Court in Sargodha on Friday awarded the death penalty to a man convicted of murdering another man over a domestic dispute. According to the prosecution, the convict, Muhammad Afzal, was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 1 million.

Details of the Murder Case

Police reported that Muhammad Afzal shot dead Muhammad Afzaal within the limits of the City Police Station following a domestic dispute. A case was registered under Sections 302, 109, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code. After completion of the investigation, the challan was submitted before the trial court.

Following arguments from both sides and examination of the evidence on record, the Additional and Sessions Judge found the accused guilty and handed down the death sentence along with the fine.

Other Court Proceedings

In a separate case, the same Additional and Sessions Court on Friday sentenced a drug pusher to 14 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 400,000 after convicting him in a narcotics smuggling case. According to the prosecution, Factory Area police arrested the accused, Ghulam Muhammad, and recovered 5.2 kilograms of charas from his possession during an operation.

Following the registration of a case, the investigating officer submitted the challan before the trial court. After examining the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the court found the accused guilty and awarded him 14 years’ rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 400,000.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Muzaffargarh inspected a pre-flood mock exercise along the Chenab River to assess preparedness for potential flooding.
