639 New Plots Approved for Karachi Press Club

In a significant move for Pakistan's media community, the Sindh government has given its formal approval for the allocation of hundreds of new residential plots to journalists associated with the Karachi Press Club.

Cabinet Meeting Delivers Positive Verdict

The landmark decision was finalized during Thursday's Sindh cabinet meeting, where ministers reviewed and approved a comprehensive proposal regarding the land allocation. This development marks a crucial step in addressing the housing needs of the journalistic community in Karachi.

The cabinet authorized the allocation of exactly 639 additional residential plots for eligible Karachi Press Club members, successfully resolving what had been a long-standing demand from the media professionals.

Background and Allocation Details

This new allocation builds upon previous support provided to the journalistic community. The Karachi Press Club had initially received 1,271 plots through the Lyari Development Authority (LDA). Following their request for an additional 700 plots, the government conducted verification processes that confirmed 639 members met the eligibility criteria.

The approved proposal encompasses multiple important components. The Lyari Development Authority received authorization to plan, allocate, and develop these plots on 125 acres located in Hawke's Bay Scheme-42. Additionally, the cabinet approved the release of necessary development funds to ensure the project's successful implementation.

Official Confirmations and Appreciation

The local government department provided the cabinet with comprehensive documentation, including revised summaries that contained complete lists of both the original 1,271 allottees and the newly proposed 639 beneficiaries.

In response to this decision, Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili and Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan, along with the entire governing body, issued an official statement expressing their gratitude. They specifically thanked the Sindh government and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for his instrumental role in making this approval possible.

This allocation represents a substantial commitment to supporting the welfare of journalists and media professionals in Karachi, acknowledging their crucial role in society while addressing their legitimate housing needs through proper governmental channels.
