CHINIOT – Chiniot Police have finalized comprehensive security plans for Muharram-ul-Haram, deploying over 1,500 officers and personnel to maintain peace, sectarian harmony, and public safety across the district.
Security Arrangements Detailed by DPO
District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif, in an exclusive interview with APP on Sunday, stated that all available resources would be utilized to uphold law and order during Muharram. He emphasized that no individual or group would be allowed to disrupt the district's peaceful atmosphere. Strict action will be taken against any elements attempting to create unrest, he added, while personally inspecting procession routes, congregation venues, and sensitive points to review security preparations.
Processions and Gatherings
According to police statistics, a total of 258 processions will be held across the district, including 32 Category-A, 66 Category-B, and 160 Category-C processions. Additionally, 685 religious gatherings are scheduled, comprising 70 Category-A, 193 Category-B, and 422 Category-C events. To ensure foolproof security, Chiniot Police, led by one SP and seven DSPs, will deploy over 1,500 personnel, while Elite Force teams will remain stationed at sensitive locations.
Monitoring and Enforcement Measures
The DPO confirmed that all processions and gatherings will be monitored through CCTV surveillance and video recording systems. The security strategy includes walk-through gates, rooftop deployment of armed personnel, high-alert blockades at district entry and exit points, and a fully operational monitoring cell to curb sectarian hate content on social media. He added that enforcement of Section 144, strict monitoring of inflammatory speeches, and special traffic management measures will help ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of Muharram-ul-Haram throughout the district.
