RWMC Launches Comprehensive Cleanliness Drive Ahead of Easter Celebrations

The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has rolled out a dedicated cleanliness operation across the entire Rawalpindi division to guarantee hygienic conditions at Christian places of worship and surrounding neighborhoods in preparation for Easter festivities. This initiative is proceeding despite ongoing rainfall, highlighting the agency's commitment to public health and environmental safety.

Scope and Execution of the Campaign

RWMC Chief Executive Officer Rana Sajid Safdar announced on Friday that the campaign encompasses churches, predominantly Christian residential areas, parks, and public spaces throughout all 22 tehsils of the division. Workers have been actively engaged in manual sweeping, waste collection, de-silting of drains, and general cleaning activities, particularly on Good Friday and Palm Sunday, to maintain a zero-waste environment.

The primary goal is to facilitate religious gatherings and recreational events in a clean and secure setting during the Easter period, as stated by the CEO. He emphasized that citizen health and environmental protection remain top priorities for the organization, with ensuring cleanliness during significant religious and social occasions like Easter being a core responsibility.

Community Response and Worker Support

Representatives from the Christian community have expressed gratitude for RWMC's efforts, noting that the campaign has successfully ensured places of worship are clean and safe for congregations. They described the services as valuable, allowing religious events to proceed without disruptions.

Additionally, community members praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for approving advance salary payments to sanitation workers, viewing this as a positive step to acknowledge and motivate their dedication. Rana Sajid Safdar reiterated that RWMC teams have worked diligently across every tehsil and remain committed to delivering optimal sanitation services, underscoring the agency's dedication to public service during key religious occasions.
