3,500 Pakistanis Deported from UAE Over Social Media Laws

The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that approximately 3,500 Pakistani nationals were deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for violating social media laws during the Iran–US conflict. This revelation came during Question Hour, where Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that the government is extending all possible assistance to the affected individuals and their families.

Government Response to Deportations

Responding to a query raised by Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Samina Khalid Ghurki, Minister Chaudhry confirmed that the government is actively providing support to those deported. He emphasized that the authorities are working to address the needs of the affected Pakistanis and their families, ensuring they receive necessary aid.

Prisoners Abroad

In response to another question, the minister clarified that there are no Pakistani prisoners on death row in Spain, Portugal, or the United Kingdom, as capital punishment has been abolished in these countries. He further elaborated that Pakistani missions in these nations have dedicated sections to assist imprisoned nationals. These sections are responsible for visiting jails, addressing concerns, and providing legal support to those who cannot afford legal representation.
