Budget Session to Continue Uninterrupted Until Approval Before Ashura

The federal government has announced that the budget session will proceed without any interruptions starting June 12 until the budget is formally approved by Parliament. Sources indicate that the government is targeting parliamentary approval by June 23 or 24, ahead of the Ashura observance during Muharram. To meet this deadline, the session will be held continuously, including weekends, with no holidays on Saturdays or Sundays.

Meeting of Parliamentary Leaders

A meeting of parliamentary leaders was convened under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. During the meeting, participants agreed that the National Assembly session would remain in session without any breaks until the budget is passed. The leaders reviewed the proposed schedule and reached a consensus on maintaining uninterrupted proceedings.

Contingency Plan for Ashura

According to sources, if the budget cannot be approved before Ashura due to unforeseen circumstances, only the official public holidays for Ashura will be observed. Apart from these specific days, the session will continue without any pause. Additionally, approval for supplementary grants is expected to be sought after the Muharram holidays. However, the government's primary objective remains to secure the budget's passage before Ashura.
