CCD Reports Major Crime Reduction in Lahore During 2026

The Crime Control Department (CCD) Punjab has announced that Lahore experienced a substantial improvement in its crime situation during 2026 when compared to the first quarter of 2025. Official data released by the CCD, which was obtained by GNN News, indicates a 67 percent decrease in robbery incidents within the provincial capital, dropping from 12 cases to just 4.

Detailed Crime Statistics

According to the CCD, which operates under the leadership of Additional IG Sohail Zafar Chattha, house robberies saw a complete elimination, declining from 11 cases to zero during the review period. Theft cases in Lahore also witnessed a notable reduction of 75 percent, falling from 1,513 incidents to 372. Car snatching incidents decreased from 5 to 3, while motorcycle snatching cases dropped sharply from 183 to 38, representing reductions of 40 percent and 79 percent respectively.

Further Reductions Across Crime Categories

The statistics further revealed a 73 percent decline in car theft cases, which dropped from 73 incidents in the first three months of 2025 to 20 in the corresponding period of 2026. Motorcycle theft cases also decreased from 3,017 to 1,493, marking a 51 percent reduction. Robbery-cum-murder incidents declined by 50 percent, from 2 cases to 1, while robbery-cum-rape incidents dropped completely from 2 cases to zero.

Murder cases decreased from 104 to 57, reflecting a 45 percent decline, and attempted murder cases fell from 227 to 126, showing a 44 percent reduction compared to the previous year. Burglary incidents decreased from 1,122 to 576, registering a 49 percent decline. However, officials noted that the CCD has not yet formally taken up burglary-related cases.
