The first convoys of Pakistani Hajj pilgrims have started arriving in Makkah from Madinah, marking the next phase of their spiritual journey as thousands prepare to perform Hajj rituals in and around the holy city. The Pakistani religious affairs ministry confirmed this development on Sunday.
Pilgrims Movement from Madinah to Makkah
According to the ministry, approximately 10,000 Pakistani pilgrims reached Madinah this week as the country’s pre-Hajj flight operations gained momentum. These pilgrims are now moving to Makkah to join the main Hajj activities.
Pakistan’s Director General for Hajj, Abdul Wahab Soomro, along with other officials, met with Pakistani pilgrims at their residences in Makkah and inquired about the arrangements made for their stay. The ministry stated that its main control office in Makkah has deployed Hajj assistants to facilitate pilgrims with transport, food, and other essential services during their time in the holy city.
Facilities and Services for Pilgrims
The ministry emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to provide every possible facility to Pakistani Hajj pilgrims so that they can perform their religious duties in a peaceful and comfortable environment. Officials assured that the arrangements are being closely monitored to address any issues promptly.
Pre-Hajj Flight Operations
Pakistan launched its pre-Hajj flight operations on April 18. Pilgrims from major cities including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Sialkot, and Multan, as well as other parts of the country, have so far departed for Madinah. The ministry reported that the flight operations are proceeding smoothly and are expected to continue uninterrupted until May 21.
This year, Pakistan is expected to send 179,210 pilgrims for Hajj, with over 119,000 traveling under the government’s scheme. The remaining pilgrims will use private tour operators.
The ministry’s efforts reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all Pakistani pilgrims. With the arrival in Makkah, the pilgrims now focus on completing the Hajj rituals in the days ahead.
