PM, COAS attend funeral prayers for helicopter crash martyrs

ISLAMABAD: The funeral prayers (Namaz Janaza) for the martyrs who embraced shahadat in the tragic MI-17 helicopter crash in Muzaffarabad were offered at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi, on Thursday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Minister of Defence, Minister of Information, senior civil and military officials, relatives of the martyrs, and various segments of society attended the funeral prayers.

Earlier, the funeral services of two Christian soldiers who were martyred in the crash were held at Christ Church, Rawalpindi, which was also attended by political and military leadership.

PM's Remarks on Martyrs' Sacrifices

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister remarked that the martyrs' devotion to duty, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding the motherland will remain a source of inspiration for future generations. He emphasized that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces for peace, security, and national sovereignty can never be forgotten, reaffirming the nation’s unwavering support for the families of the martyrs during this difficult time.

Final Rites with Full Military Honours

The martyrs will be laid to rest in their respective native towns with full military honours. The nation salutes the bravery and dedication of these heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty.
