PM Shehbaz Sets Up Committee for Commercial Courts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted an eight-member committee to develop a framework for the establishment of commercial courts in the country, according to a notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office. The committee has been tasked with preparing a draft plan for setting up commercial courts and submitting its recommendations within 45 days.

Committee Composition

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar will head the committee. Other members include Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Federal Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani, Secretary Law, and legal experts Faisal Nadeem Naqvi, Ali Almani, Zainab Janjua, and Ibrahim Afridi.

Mandate and Objectives

The panel has been mandated to formulate a comprehensive proposal aimed at strengthening the commercial dispute resolution system through specialised courts and improving efficiency in handling business-related cases. This initiative is expected to expedite the resolution of commercial disputes, thereby fostering a more business-friendly environment in Pakistan.
