ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday expressed confidence that the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) elections would be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner. Speaking to a private television channel, he said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would secure a majority of seats in the elections.
PML-N's Development Agenda for G-B
Rana Sanaullah stated that after winning the polls, PML-N would continue its efforts to promote development projects and improve facilities for the people of the northern region. He emphasized that the party's focus would remain on enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, and education in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Empowerment of Local Bodies
Commenting on local government institutions, the adviser emphasized the importance of empowering local bodies to effectively address issues at the grassroots level, particularly in Karachi. He noted that strong local governments are crucial for resolving civic problems and ensuring efficient service delivery.
Provincial Responsibilities Under 18th Amendment
Responding to a question, Rana Sanaullah said that following the 18th Constitutional Amendment, it is the responsibility of provincial governments to utilize available funds for public welfare and development projects. He urged provinces to prioritize transparency and efficiency in spending.
The adviser also highlighted the need for collective and sustained efforts to address environmental challenges, echoing concerns raised by others regarding climate change impacts in the region.
