LAYYAH - The Crime Control Department (CCD) has taken action against two of its own officials on corruption charges. According to a CCD spokesperson, senior officers registered a case against Sub-Inspector Muhammad Taimur and arrested him on allegations of maintaining links with criminals and receiving Rs80,000 monthly from a drug dealer. The accused will be produced before a court Tuesday for further legal proceedings.
Second Case of Misconduct
Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Layyah suspended Sub-Inspector Zahid, posted at Karor police station, on charges of overstepping authority and corruption, and placed him on close-to-line status. The DPO ordered a departmental inquiry against Zahid.
Political Development
In a separate development, PML-N leader Saad Rafique has rejected claims of a rout for his party in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, asserting that the party performed well despite challenges.
