Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio has directed police and Rangers officials to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram and maintain law and order under all circumstances. He instructed all relevant officials to perform their duties diligently so that the month of mourning passes peacefully.

Key Directives for Public Convenience

Chandio emphasized that, in addition to cleanliness, street lighting and other necessary arrangements along the routes of mourning processions and at religious gatherings (majalis) should be ensured. This is to prevent any inconvenience to the public, especially mourners.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting attended by officials from police, Rangers, local government, SEPCO, Sui Gas, Health Department, Public Health Engineering, PPHI, Chamber of Commerce, Municipal Corporation, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, Assistant Commissioners, and religious scholars from various schools of thought.

He instructed the SSP Larkana to meet with religious scholars, address their concerns, and help ensure that Muharram passes peacefully.

Emergency and Cleanliness Measures

The deputy commissioner directed Scouts officials to establish camps across the city and provide medicines and complete first-aid facilities there. Rescue 1122 officials were instructed to keep their personnel, vehicles, and equipment fully prepared to respond to emergencies. Emergency response teams should be deployed at procession routes and key locations to ensure immediate action in case of any incident.

Traffic authorities were instructed to develop an effective traffic management plan during Muharram. Drainage crossings near procession routes, majalis venues, and Imambargahs should also be repaired.

He further stated that emergency measures should be enforced at Chandka Medical College Hospital, Taluka Headquarters Hospitals, Rural Health Centers, and Basic Health Units, ensuring the availability of medical staff, ambulances, and medicines. Street lights should be made fully operational before the beginning of Muharram-ul-Haram.

On the occasion, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Larkana Advocate Anwar Ali Luhur said that arrangements for cleanliness, lighting, water sprinkling along procession routes, and readiness of fire brigade vehicles for any emergency would be ensured during Muharram so that mourners do not face any difficulties.
