IHC Issues Notices on Repatriation of Baitul Mal DG

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the secretary of the Establishment Division, the managing director of Pakistan Baitul Mal, and other respondents in response to a petition challenging a notification that repatriated the services of the organisation's director general to the Punjab government.

Petition Hearing Details

Justice Inam Amin Minhas presided over the hearing of the petition filed by Prof Dr Zeeshan Danish. Advocate Shah Khawar represented the petitioner during the proceedings.

The petitioner's counsel submitted that the federal government uploaded the notification on its official website on May 20, 2026, under which the petitioner's services were returned to the Punjab government. The counsel argued that the repatriation was unlawful and sought the court's intervention to overturn the decision.

Court's Response

After hearing the initial arguments, the court issued notices to the relevant authorities, requiring them to respond to the petition. The next hearing date has not yet been announced.

The case highlights ongoing administrative and legal disputes regarding the transfer of officers between federal and provincial governments. Pakistan Baitul Mal is a federal institution responsible for providing financial assistance to the needy, and changes in its leadership can impact its operations.
