Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Kainat Azhar Khan, personally visited the Shah Allah Ditta and Bari Imam procession routes to assess traffic and security measures in place for the observance of 11th Muharram-ul-Haram. According to an official of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), the CTO reviewed the traffic management arrangements and inspected the deployment of personnel at key points along the routes. She issued necessary directions to officers and staff to remain vigilant until the conclusion of all processions.
Emphasis on Smooth Traffic Flow and Mourner Facilitation
Kainat directed field officers to ensure smooth traffic flow, facilitate mourners, and strictly implement the approved traffic management plan. She emphasized that officers should stay alert throughout their deployment and respond promptly to any traffic-related situation. The CTO noted that the Islamabad Traffic Police has been effectively managing traffic for Muharram processions and Majalis across the federal capital since the 1st of Muharram through Youm-e-Ashur.
Deployment and Vigilance
The inspection covered critical points where large gatherings are expected. Kainat underscored the importance of coordination among different units to prevent any congestion or security lapses. She reiterated that the safety and convenience of citizens, especially mourners, remain the top priority. The ITP official confirmed that additional personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations, and traffic diversions are in place as per the plan.
Past Performance and Future Readiness
Kainat expressed satisfaction with the traffic management during the first ten days of Muharram, including Ashura. She urged officers to maintain the same level of dedication for the remaining days. The CTO also reviewed contingency plans for any emergency situations and directed that communication lines remain open for swift action. The Islamabad Traffic Police continues to coordinate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful environment.
