The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to file its response in a petition seeking the blocking of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Court Hearing Details
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir presided over the petition, which was filed by Advocate Ghulam Murtaza in September 2025. The petition alleges that inflammatory content was posted from the official X account of the PTI founder.
PTI's Lack of Response
During the hearing, the court observed that PTI had not yet submitted a written response. Consequently, notices were reissued to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, directing him to submit a reply in his capacity as party head.
Legal Observations
The court referred to previous judgments while discussing related legal issues and made observations regarding individuals appearing in jail-related matters. Justice Tahir directed representatives of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to ensure that a designated law officer appears before the court in future proceedings.
Next Steps
The court further stated that specific legal questions would be framed at the next hearing, and the relevant regulator would be required to respond accordingly. The case has been adjourned to a later date.
