RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Monday dismissed social media reports claiming that a former army chief had met the incarcerated ex-prime minister at Adiala Jail, describing the reports as false and baseless.
Social Media Claims Dismissed
In a post on X, Aleema stated: "All the news circulating on social media that a former army chief met Imran Khan in Adiala Jail are fake." She said the claim was being spread as disinformation to divert attention from what she described as Imran's conditions in detention.
Alleged Restrictions in Custody
Aleema further claimed that the PTI founder is facing multiple restrictions in custody, including limited access to medical treatment and family contact. "He is not allowed proper treatment for his eye in a proper hospital," she said. She maintained that the former premier has not been permitted to speak with his sons, denied access to books for the past six months, and is not provided with television or contact with the outside world, except for limited meetings with lawyers as permitted by court orders.
Legal Entitlements
Referring to a court ruling, Aleema said a full bench had ordered regular visitation rights, including access for family members, lawyers and party representatives on designated days. She argued that such access constitutes Imran's legal entitlement under Pakistan's laws as well as international legal standards.
Background
Her remarks came amid speculation on social media regarding an alleged meeting between the PTI founder and a former army chief at Adiala Jail, where the PTI founder is currently being held. Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi remain incarcerated in Adiala Jail since 2023. They were sentenced on December 20, 2025, to 17 years in prison in the Toshakhana-II case, which pertains to allegations that the couple unlawfully retained a Bulgari jewellery set gifted by the Saudi crown prince during an official visit to Saudi Arabia.
