Awami National Party (ANP) leaders, workers, and members of civil society on Friday paid glowing tribute to slain Bajaur leader Maulana Khanzaib at a condolence gathering held at the Landi Kotal Press Club, describing his assassination as a major setback to the struggle for peace, justice and the rights of the Pakhtun people.
Gathering Draws Diverse Attendees
The gathering was attended by the ANP’s district leadership, a large number of party workers, local political and social figures, and representatives of civil society. The event reflected the broad support for Khanzaib’s legacy and the causes he championed.
Assassination Called a Blow to Peace and Democracy
Speaking on the occasion, ANP leaders said Maulana Khanzaib’s assassination was not merely a loss to his family or community, but a serious blow to the broader struggle for peace, justice and democratic values in the tribal districts. They recalled his contributions as a religious scholar and social activist, saying he had consistently worked to promote harmony, public awareness and the protection of people’s rights despite the challenging security situation in the region.
Khanzaib’s Legacy of Awareness and Rights
The speakers said Maulana Khanzaib devoted his life to raising awareness among the Pakhtun people about their natural resources, constitutional rights and social responsibilities. They maintained that his unwavering commitment to these causes had earned him widespread respect across the region.

Describing his killing as an attack on the voice of peace and public awareness, the participants pledged to carry forward his vision and continue the peaceful struggle for justice, equality and the rights of the people.
