FAISALABAD - To maintain law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira has issued a comprehensive and foolproof security plan. According to the plan, a total of 4,402 Majalis will be held across the region, including 354 A-category, 916 B-category, and 3,132 C-category Majalis. For the security of these gatherings, 7,576 police officers and personnel have been deployed, while 4,025 volunteers will assist the police in maintaining security arrangements.
Similarly, 1,528 processions will be taken out during Muharram, including 162 A-category, 273 B-category, and 1,093 C-category processions. A total of 10,873 police officers and personnel will perform security duties for the processions, while 4,637 volunteers will provide support.
RPO Sohail Akhtar Sakhaira has directed the district police officials to re-examine the routes of mosques, Imambargahs, religious gatherings, Majalis, and processions, and to activate peace committees at the district and police station levels. He further instructed that effective meetings should be held with these committees to promote religious harmony, unity among Muslims, and an atmosphere of brotherhood.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir has made the Muharram Control Room operational at the DC Office for scientific monitoring of processions and related arrangements. The control room will remain functional round the clock until the night of Youm-e-Ashura.
