Islamabad Police Detain 19, Impound 26 Motorcycles in Sweep

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police detained 19 suspects and shifted 26 motorcycles to police stations for further verification during large-scale combing and search operations conducted in various parts of the federal capital as part of enhanced security measures.

Operations Launched on IGP’s Directives

An official told the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Monday that the operations were launched on the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and carried out under the supervision of zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs). The searches covered the jurisdictions of Sumbal, Kirpa, Aabpara, Shahzad Town, Sabzi Mandi and Khanna police stations.

Lady Police Personnel Participate in Checks

The official added that lady police personnel also took part in the operations to ensure comprehensive checking of all individuals, including women. The combing is part of a broader strategy to tighten security in the capital and prevent any untoward incidents.

Opposition Alliance Alleges Police Interference

Separately, the opposition alliance claimed that police stopped opposition leaders from travelling to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), though the police statement did not mention this. The development comes amid heightened political activity in the region.
