Sindh Holds 186 Mega Camps on World Population Day

The Population Welfare Department Sindh observed World Population Day by organizing 186 Mega Camps across all 30 districts of the province, aiming to promote family planning and reproductive health services. According to a press release, the initiative provided a wide range of contraceptive services to thousands of clients.

Services Provided at the Camps

During the campaign, 7,187 contraceptive injections were administered as short-term family planning methods. For long-term contraception, 2,143 Copper-T IUCDs and 4,332 contraceptive implants were provided. Permanent family planning services included 1,465 women undergoing Tubal Ligation (TL) and 82 men opting for no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV). In total, 10,354 family planning clients received services through these camps, reflecting the department’s strong commitment to expanding access to quality reproductive health and family planning services across the province.

Public Awareness Initiatives

As part of the World Population Day awareness campaign, digital advertisements were displayed on government buses across Karachi, ensuring that the message of family planning reached people in different parts of the city. Additionally, the department organized a Reels contest to engage and educate young people. Youth and children participated enthusiastically, and winners were recognized with certificates of appreciation and prizes.

In a separate development, Karachi’s Valika Hospital reported that its HIV tally has reached 80 after two more children tested positive.
