Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday met participants of the sit-in at Ziarat Cross, listened to their demands and concerns in detail, and announced immediate steps to address their issues. The protests erupted along the national highway near the site of an under-construction dam after nine policemen were martyred in a terrorist attack in Ziarat district earlier on Tuesday.
Committee Formed to Address Demands
CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti formed a committee to consider the demands of the protesters and formulate actionable recommendations. The representative delegation of the sit-in was invited to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for detailed negotiations and to present their demands. He assured that the legitimate demands of the people would be resolved according to the requirements of law, merit, and justice.
CM Urges National Unity Against Terrorism
Addressing the participants, the CM said that the enemy is attacking Balochistan from two sides: on one hand, it is killing innocent citizens, and on the other hand, it is trying to affect the livelihood of the people, while the blame for all this is also placed on state institutions. He emphasized that in such circumstances, the entire nation must demonstrate unity, consensus, and solidarity so that every conspiracy of the enemy could be foiled.
Negotiations and Resolution
The Chief Minister stated that the Balochistan government is always available to resolve the problems of the people and that resolution of differences or grievances is possible only through negotiations, mutual trust, and constitutional and legal procedures. He urged the people to fully cooperate with state institutions, keeping peace, brotherhood, and national interest in mind.
Protesters End Sit-In, Highway Reopens
After the Chief Minister’s assurance and positive progress, the protesters announced the end of the ongoing sit-in at Ziarat Cross and opened the highway for all types of traffic, after which traffic returned to normal.
