Khanewal - Following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, district authorities have intensified efforts to streamline Muharram arrangements, development projects, and public welfare initiatives across Khanewal.
Muharram Preparations Reviewed
Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashed visited Mian Channu to oversee preparations for the 9th and 10th of Muharram processions. She inspected the designated routes and an Imambargah, instructing officials to remove encroachments and dangling utility wires to ensure the safety and convenience of mourners.
Development and Beautification Projects
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed ongoing beautification projects in major markets and examined an underground water storage project designed to improve rainwater management ahead of the monsoon season. She directed departments to expedite work and secure construction sites during Muharram.
Focus on Prison Healthcare
Separately, Deputy Commissioner Rashed chaired a meeting of the District Jail Prison Health Council. She assessed the availability of medicines, medical facilities, doctors' attendance, and healthcare services for inmates. Emphasizing the importance of timely and quality healthcare, she stated that improving health facilities in prisons remains a priority for the Punjab government. Officials from the district administration, health department, and other relevant institutions attended the meeting.
Heritage Restoration
In a related development, Ewing Hall is set to be restored as a heritage building, preserving its historical significance.
