ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday invited the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan after it emerged as the majority party in the regional elections.
PML-N Supports PPP in Gilgit-Baltistan
In a statement, the Prime Minister said, “PML-N supports PPP on the issue of government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan.” He further elaborated, “PML-N has decided to sit in the opposition in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, but our elected members will vote for PPP so that it can form the government.”
Democratic Traditions Upheld
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that this decision was made keeping in mind democratic traditions and values. He added, “PML-N has always maintained a respectful relationship with its allied parties.”
The PPP emerged as the largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly elections, securing a clear majority. The PML-N's decision to support the PPP from the opposition benches ensures a stable government in the region.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, a US-supported masterclass equipped 50 Pakistani entrepreneurs with skills to compete in global digital markets. The initiative aims to boost Pakistan's digital economy and empower local businesses.
