Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin has reviewed the security and administrative arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings in Lahore, directing coordinated efforts to ensure peace and safety across the provincial capital.
Meeting Highlights Preparations
During a meeting, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Ali Ejaz briefed the minister on preparations for procession routes and majalis locations, while DIG Operations Faisal Kamran outlined the security deployment plan for Muharram.
Comprehensive Arrangements Completed
Officials said comprehensive arrangements have been completed, including protective security at major procession routes and the provision of facilities such as langar, drinking water, and milk distribution points for participants.
The briefing noted that procession routes will be monitored through CCTV surveillance, while police and security personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations.
Inter-Departmental Coordination
Bilal Yasin instructed all relevant departments, including the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), and Rescue services, to maintain close coordination during Muharram.
Contingency Plans and Consultations
He said contingency plans would be implemented to address any emergency situation, including preparations in view of possible rainfall. He added that, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, consultations with religious scholars and peace committees have been completed across districts to ensure a peaceful Muharram.
