Punjab Police has deported 35,719 illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghan nationals, from across the province as part of an ongoing repatriation drive, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Details of the Repatriation Drive
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, 72 individuals are currently present at various holding points while the repatriation process continues. The spokesperson said those repatriated include more than 14,000 men, 7,138 women, and 14,529 children. Among them, 11,047 were holders of Proof of Residence (PoR) documents, 11,135 possessed Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC), while 13,537 were foreign nationals residing in Pakistan illegally.
Security Measures and Policy Implementation
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem stated that security remains on high alert across the province and that Punjab Police is implementing the government’s policy on the repatriation of illegally residing foreign nationals in accordance with international laws. He added that law enforcement agencies remain committed to ensuring the orderly implementation of the repatriation process across Punjab.
