The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar has arrested several officials of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) during a raid at a registration center in Charsadda. The arrests were made over allegations of issuing national identity cards to foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens.
Operation Details
The operation was carried out on the directives of FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar Deputy Director Rana Shahid Habib and was supervised by Assistant Director Abdul Qayyum. According to FIA officials, a NADRA employee was taken into custody for allegedly facilitating the issuance of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to individuals who were not Pakistani citizens.
Arrests and Evidence
Among those arrested were NADRA Assistant Director Waqar Ahmed, along with Ataullah Jan, Ahmed Raza, and Sajjad Ali. Officials said several documents and other important pieces of evidence were recovered during the raid. A formal case has been registered against the suspects, and a detailed investigation is now underway.
Background of Suspects
Sources further revealed that Waqar Ahmed Khan is already facing inquiries and investigations in multiple cases. An FIA spokesperson said efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the network. Raids are being conducted at different locations as part of the ongoing investigation.

The agency reiterated its commitment to taking action against anyone found involved in the illegal issuance of identity documents and other forms of corruption. The FIA has vowed to continue its crackdown on such illegal activities to ensure the integrity of the national identity system.
