Chiniot Food Safety Drive: Fines, Poor Milk Destroyed

In a significant move to safeguard public health, food safety authorities in Chiniot have launched a major district-wide operation targeting non-compliant food businesses. The crackdown, which resulted in numerous penalties and the destruction of substandard products, underscores a zero-tolerance policy towards food safety violations.

Widespread Inspections and Penalties

Led by Deputy Director Operations Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza, the teams conducted rigorous inspections of 114 food businesses across the district. A particular focus was placed on the dairy supply chain, with 44 milk trucks being scrutinized. During these checks, officials identified serious breaches of food safety laws, leading to the issuance of reform notices and the imposition of fines totaling Rs 92,000.

Substandard and Expired Items Destroyed

The operation led to the immediate removal of hazardous items from the market. Authorities confirmed the destruction of 30 liters of poor-quality milk that was deemed unfit for human consumption. Furthermore, prohibited substances were discovered in various food items. In a separate action at local grocery stores, over 2 kg of expired food and 9 liters of expired cold drinks were recovered and subsequently destroyed to prevent any public health risk.

A Continued Commitment to Public Safety

In an exclusive conversation with APP, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza emphasized the critical importance of food safety and issued a stern warning to all businesses to adhere strictly to regulations. He firmly stated that this crackdown is not a one-off event but a sustained effort. The campaign will continue unabated to protect consumers and ensure a safe and reliable food supply for the people of Chiniot.
