The city of Gujrat came together to honor the International Day for Persons with Disabilities with a vibrant ceremony. The event was jointly organized by all government special education schools and the Al-Mudassir Trust based in Kharian.

Dignitaries Inaugurate Celebratory Event

Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi formally inaugurated the proceedings. She was joined by Assistant Commissioner Kharian Ahmed Sher, who was also present to show support for the cause. The ceremony served as a platform to recognize the abilities and contributions of individuals with disabilities within the community.

Student Performances and Government Initiatives Highlighted

The audience was treated to a series of colorful tableaux presented by students from both the Special Education Department and Al-Mudassir Trust. Their performances received warm appreciation from all attendees.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi detailed the Punjab government's efforts to support this segment of society. She mentioned several key programs, including:

  • The Himmat Cards, which provide financial assistance and benefits.
  • Distribution of various assistive devices to enhance mobility and independence.
  • A dedicated wheelchair program.

She emphasized that these initiatives are designed to empower persons with disabilities, enabling them to become active and respected members of society.

Al-Mudassir Trust's Role in Supporting Special Children

Syed Mudassir Hussain Shah, the Chairman and Founder of Al-Mudassir Trust, also spoke at the event. He outlined the trust's mission, stating that it is committed to providing free education and healthcare facilities to special children. This work complements the government's efforts in creating a more inclusive environment.
