Police Crackdown in Gujrat: 8 Arrested, Narcotics and Weapon Seized
Gujrat Police Arrest 8 in Major Anti-Drug, Arms Operation

In a significant crackdown, police in Gujrat district have launched intensified operations targeting drug peddlers and illegal arms holders. The coordinated raids across multiple circles resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of substantial quantities of contraband and a weapon.

Major Haul in Kharian and Jalalpur Jattan

According to official details provided by a police spokesperson, the operations were concentrated in the Kharian Circle and adjoining areas. In the Kharian Circle itself, authorities apprehended a suspect identified as Imran Zareef and recovered five litres of illicit liquor from his possession.

Simultaneously, the Saddar Kharian police team successfully arrested two more suspects, named Ali Raza and Adnan. From them, the police confiscated a larger haul of 12 litres of liquor.

In a separate but connected action within the same district, the City Jalalpur Jattan police made two critical arrests. The suspects, Inamullah and Muhammad Ali alias Danish, were caught with a significant cache of narcotics. The recovered items included over one kilogram of the drug 'ice' (crystal meth), 1,270 grams of hashish, along with various drug paraphernalia used in the trade.

Weapon and Liquor Recovered in Sarai Alamgir and Lalamusa

The police net widened to the Sarai Alamgir Circle, where the City Sarai Alamgir police team arrested two additional suspects. From one of them, Ejaz Masih, the police recovered a substantial 40 litres of liquor. The other arrest, Muhammad Nabeel, led to the seizure of an illegal pistol, highlighting the dual threat of narcotics and weapons.

Completing the series of operations, the City Lalamusa police targeted the supply chain by arresting a alleged liquor supplier, Rustam Abbas. A further 10 litres of liquor were recovered from him, bringing the total haul from these raids to a considerable volume.

A Continued Drive Against Crime

This series of raids underscores a continued and intensified effort by the Gujrat police to curb the menace of drugs and illegal arms in the region. The simultaneous operations across different police jurisdictions demonstrate a coordinated strategy to disrupt criminal networks.

The recovery of such a diverse range of contraband—from hard drugs like 'ice' and hashish to large quantities of illegal liquor and an unlicensed firearm—points to the multifaceted nature of the challenge. The arrests of eight individuals, including a named supplier, is likely to impact local illicit trade networks, at least temporarily.

Authorities have indicated that such operations will remain a priority, aiming to ensure public safety and lawfulness in the district. The police have urged citizens to continue cooperating by providing credible information to aid in these ongoing efforts.
