A serious road accident occurred on Depalpur Road in Okara district on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to seven individuals. According to rescue officials, a speeding truck collided head-on with a passenger van near the village of Chak No. 4/GD. The impact of the crash left the van badly damaged, trapping several passengers inside.
Rescue Operation
Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 and local volunteers reached the scene immediately after receiving reports of the accident. Using cutting equipment, they extricated the injured passengers from the wreckage. All seven injured individuals were rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Okara for medical treatment. Medical officials stated that two of the injured are in critical condition and have been referred to a larger hospital in Lahore for specialized care.
Cause of Accident
Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, leading to the collision. The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident. Police have registered a case and are searching for the absconding driver. Authorities have urged drivers to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution on the roads to prevent such incidents.
Local residents have expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents on Depalpur Road, citing poor road conditions and reckless driving as major factors. They have demanded better road infrastructure and stricter enforcement of traffic laws to ensure public safety.
