10-Day Deadline for Islamabad Cricket Stadium Design

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a strict directive to officials, demanding the final design for a proposed world-class cricket stadium in Islamabad be submitted within ten days. The instruction came during a high-level meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters, where the minister reviewed progress on several key infrastructure and public welfare projects for the federal capital.

Major Projects Get Green Light

During the review session, officials presented plans for the construction of a modern, state-of-the-art cricket stadium. In response, Mohsin Naqvi set a clear 10-day deadline for the submission of its finalized design. The meeting also resulted in the approval to allocate a specific area for a national park within the city.

In a significant move to enhance security, the forum decided to expand the scope of the Safe City Project by integrating more advanced technologies. To tackle persistent traffic issues, plans for building a "smart underpass" at the busy Kashmir Chowk were discussed. For this project as well, the interior minister demanded the final design be presented within the same 10-day period.

Administrative Reforms and Development Plans

The meeting covered a broad agenda for Islamabad's development. Key decisions included engaging reputable firms for the development of a five-star hotel and forming a special team to oversee and improve solid waste management services in the city.

Furthermore, land will be allocated for the headquarters of various law enforcement agencies. Minister Naqvi also sought details regarding commercial plots that have remained vacant for extended periods, indicating a focus on optimal land use.

Anti-Encroachment Drive and Future Proposals

Addressing the ongoing efforts to reclaim state land, Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed that the anti-encroachment drive in Islamabad will continue without any compromise. He emphasized that all reclaimed land would be used for the benefit of the public.

Looking ahead, proposals for constructing a new convention centre in the capital are under examination. Additionally, plans are being finalized to allocate land specifically for the headquarters of the Federal Constabulary, Rangers, and Islamabad Traffic Police, aiming to streamline their operations.
