KARACHI – Two hardened criminals were killed in an encounter with police during an operation in Budhni Goth, according to a police official. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samiullah Soomro identified the slain bandits as Mohammad Peeral and Sameer alias Shahmir, who were killed in a shootout with the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) CIA.
Criminals Wanted in Multiple Crimes
“The slain criminals were wanted by police in murder, robbery, and arms snatching incidents,” SSP Soomro stated. Police recovered a snatched 9mm pistol, a mobile phone, and a 30-bore pistol from the accused. The recovered mobile phone is linked to the murder of a woman named Yasmeen, who was killed on May 7 in the Soldier Bazaar area of Karachi, and her phone was looted.
The 9mm pistol recovered from the accused was found to be related to a dacoity case registered at Brigade police station. Cases of murder, robbery, and violations of the Sindh Arms Act have been registered against the accused. “They were proclaimed offenders and hardened criminals,” the police chief added.
Robbery FIR Registered After Delay
It was also noted that the robbery FIR was registered after an eight-day delay, though further details on the reason for the delay were not provided. The encounter underscores ongoing police efforts to curb violent crime in Karachi.
