Balochistan Announces Two-Day Holiday for Ashura
The Balochistan government announced on Tuesday that public holidays would be observed across the province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram in observance of Ashura. An official notification confirmed that all provincial government offices and institutions will remain closed on these two days.
Purpose of the Holidays
The holidays are intended to facilitate the public and ensure the smooth observance of the religious occasion. Officials stated that the decision was made in recognition of the sanctity of Ashura, enabling citizens to participate in religious activities with convenience and respect.
Federal Government's Lead
This announcement follows the federal government's declaration of nationwide public holidays for Ashura. Earlier, the Cabinet Division had notified public holidays across the country on June 25 and 26. The Balochistan government's move aligns with the federal directive to honor the occasion.
Security Measures in the Capital
Separately, authorities in the federal capital have imposed a ban on pillion riding as part of security measures for Ashura. Meanwhile, mobile phone services are expected to remain operational during the period, ensuring communication remains uninterrupted.
