In a move underscoring his administration's priorities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi conducted an unannounced inspection of key facilities for vulnerable children in Peshawar. The visit targeted Zamung Kor and the Women Crisis Centre, institutions dedicated to the care of orphaned and destitute girls, to personally assess conditions and enforce immediate improvements.
On-the-Spot Directives for Welfare and Health
During his tour, Chief Minister Afridi engaged directly with the resident girls, attentively listening to their concerns and grievances. He issued on-the-spot directives for the prompt resolution of all identified complaints, emphasizing that delays in redressal were unacceptable. His approach was hands-on; upon noticing girls suffering from flu at Zamung Kor, he immediately summoned doctors to the site. This ensured medical examinations were conducted without delay, facilitating timely treatment to safeguard the children's health.
Focus on Nutrition, Comfort, and Development
The Chief Minister's instructions extended to all aspects of the girls' well-being. He directed the administration to prepare meal plans that align with both the girls' preferences and their nutritional requirements, stressing that quality, healthy food is fundamental for proper growth. Acknowledging the harsh winter season, he ordered the immediate provision of essential items to protect the children from the cold. This list included water geysers, heaters, shoes, warm clothing, and sweaters.
Furthermore, CM Afridi highlighted the importance of mental and creative development. In response to requests from the girls, he directed the provision of swings, toys, a computer lab, painting materials, and other recreational items. This initiative aims to ensure a balanced environment that offers both learning and leisure opportunities.
Reaffirming a Constitutional and Moral Duty
Throughout the visit, the Chief Minister firmly reiterated the government's unwavering responsibility towards its state children. He stated that the care of orphaned and destitute girls is a constitutional, moral, and humanitarian obligation for the provincial government, and negligence in this duty would not be tolerated. He emphasized that the education, training, and overall welfare of these children are among the government's top priorities, pledging to utilize all available resources to achieve these objectives.
