LESCO Guarantees Uninterrupted Power for Lahore Basant

In a significant move to enhance public convenience during the upcoming Basant festivities, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced the completion of comprehensive measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply and secure electrical properties across the city. LESCO Chief Muhammad Ramzan Butt has issued directives for maintaining a seamless electricity flow throughout all three days of the celebrations, aiming to support the joyous atmosphere without disruptions.

Comprehensive Safety and Operational Plans

In a media statement released on Thursday, Muhammad Ramzan Butt confirmed that all necessary arrangements for Basant have been finalized. He emphasized the importance of public safety by advising citizens to avoid using metal wires, which can pose serious risks of accidents during kite-flying activities. Additionally, Butt expressed enthusiasm for celebrating Basant alongside the residents in inner Lahore, marking a festive return of the tradition after decades, accompanied by initiatives like kite sales and free transport services.

Proactive Measures and Staff Deployment

To bolster security and operational efficiency, LESCO has installed protective nets at grid stations to prevent damage and ensure stability. The company has appointed XEN Mir Mustafa as the focal person for the festival period, tasked with overseeing all related activities and coordination efforts. In a bid to maintain vigilance, LESCO staff will remain on duty around the clock, with work schedules divided into three continuous shifts. This structured approach is designed to facilitate effective monitoring and enable a swift response to any potential issues that may arise during the celebrations.

Government Regulations for Public Order

Separately, authorities in Lahore have imposed Section 144 for a period of 30 days to uphold law and order during the Basant festivities. This measure, enforced by the Punjab government, reflects strict safety protocols and public order strategies aimed at ensuring a secure and orderly environment for all participants. The combined efforts of LESCO and governmental bodies underscore a coordinated approach to managing the large-scale event, prioritizing both utility services and community safety.
